SHORT POEMS
by Michael Prihoda

cry

maybe

tonight

through

an effort

of the will

we can

cry each

other clean

trunks

maybe,

before lightning,

trees were

only trunks

growing

forever

endless

rain jackets

—wet—

purpose served,

no tactics

in the sky’s

offensive,

endless

feeling

but then

it’s over

voices

some days

I need

certain

voices

on the line

to keep

from seeing

each

tree

as a

possibility

impressions

when we

are four

impressions,

feet ghosted

on damp soil,

still I will live

in those footsteps

we shared,

moving far past

this motion’s end

Michael Prihoda is a poet and writer. He is a professional writing major at Taylor University. In his spare time he enjoys cooking, running, photography, and nature. For whatever reason, he especially appreciates llamas and cats.
